National Stay Out of the Blind Spot Day
12 September 2025 - September 12 was all about road safety at De Rijke Transport, with a special focus on a crucial topic in the transport industry: the blind spot.

Every year, too many accidents occur because cyclists and pedestrians find themselves in the blind spot of large trucks — often without realizing the danger.
To help prevent these incidents, we actively collaborate with Veilig Verkeer Nederland and Transport and Logistics Netherlands (TLN). One of the ways we contribute is by organizing blind spot awareness lessons for primary school children in groups 7 and 8.
During these interactive sessions, children learn:
- Where it’s safe to stand and cycle near trucks.
- How to better assess the size and movement of large vehicles.
- What a truck driver can and cannot see from the cabin.
A highlight of the lesson is when the children get to sit inside the truck cabin themselves. This eye-opening experience helps them understand just how limited a driver’s view can be — and why it’s so important to stay out of the blind spot.
These lessons are not only educational but also fun and impactful. They raise awareness and promote safer behavior from a young age — an investment in a safer future for everyone on the road.
We’d like to give a big shout-out to our colleagues who dedicate their time and energy to this valuable mission. Thanks to their efforts, we’re making the roads a little safer every day.
